THE father of Elizabeth "Lizzie" Cooke, who died following a collision between her quad bike and a Range Rover, has been charged with manslaughter.

The seven-year-old died in Broomfield Hospital, Chelmsford, after the £1,200 Quadzilla bike she was riding - which she had been given as a Christmas present - was involved in a head-on collision in Fingrith Hall Lane, Blackmore, on Boxing Day last year.

Her father, Gary Cooke, 46, has been released on police bail and is due to appear before Grays magistrates on Thursday, July 31.

A woman who was driving the Range Rover involved in the collision was initially arrested but later told that she would face no charges.
