CROUCH End's own favourite, The Local, picks up its skirts and heads out into the wild reaches of London this July, for Points of the Compass, a four-point musical tour of some of the capital's most lovely and sympathetic local live music venues.
It includes an array of folk and acoustic acts who demonstrate their delicate fingerpicking and gypsy marches, to classical caterwauling and side-swiping electrified folkiness.
Hosted by Howard Monk, and featuring the infamous Local Pub Quiz, Points of the Compass it includes live performances including, the inimitable David Thomas Broughton, the much celebrated Liz Green, winner of Glastonbury Festival's Emerging Talent competition last year, Emily Barker, who has toured with Jose Gonzalez where she performed in front of crowds of up to 2500 solo.
This is the Kit whose gem of a folk debut record Krulle Bol was produced by John Parish was released on Microbe in June.
Alex Neilson and Lavinia Blackwall's extraordinary collaboration with Ben Reynolds and Simon Shaw, Trembling Bells, fuse free drums with a traditional British folk style All events take place at Paradise By Way of Kensal Green (Kilburn), The Kings Head (Crouch End), Café Oto (Dalston).
