THE district's youngest ever district councillor is writing exclusively for the Guardian.
Rebecca Cohen, 19, who was elected in the Loughton Forest ward at the May 1 elections becoming one of the youngest councillors in the country, will be writing a regular blog for our website (click on Blogs in the left-hand column).
Last week she attended her first council meeting in the chamber at the Civic Offices, in Epping.
In an extract from her first blog, posted on our website today, Rebecca - whose father Mitch is also a district councillor - wrote: "I thought it (my first meeting) was very interesting. I loved the formality of the chamber, how people just say what they really think and are not afraid to say that they disagree with someone.
"I love that everyone (officers and members) have been so welcoming and so friendly! I'm sure that will change once everyone gets over the novelty of having such a young councillor in the chamber, but for now I will make the most of it."
